About Me

Graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2D Animation from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in 2024, with a focus on storyboarding and character design.

My name is Joseph Tyler Garvida, and I am an artist with a passion for creating storyboards and character designs. I have a particular interest in machines, robots, and plants, and I enjoy exploring how these elements can be brought to life in both visually compelling and narratively meaningful ways. My work often reflects this fascination with the intersection of technology and nature, and I aim to incorporate these themes into the stories I craft. While most of my experience comes from using Toon Boom Storyboard and Harmony, I also have skills with various Adobe programs, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as 3D animation software like Maya. These tools allow me to express my creative vision and bring my ideas to fruition in dynamic and engaging ways.

In addition to my technical abilities, I am an avid gamer, with a particular love for Metroidvania and RPG genres. These games, with their rich storytelling and immersive worlds, serve as a huge source of inspiration for my work, especially in terms of character development and world-building. I also enjoy running Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, which has given me a deeper understanding of storytelling and the importance of narrative structure. Ultimately, I view animation as the most powerful medium for storytelling, as it allows for the seamless combination of visuals, sound, and movement to create something truly captivating. My goal as a storyteller is to use animation to share the stories that resonate with me and, hopefully, with others as well.
